DR. PRABHAKAR SANJIV PAI

MANAGING TRUSTEE, CHAIRMAN & FOUNDER

Our Chairman & Managing Trustee Lion Dr. Prabhakar S. Pai, Municipal Councilor (1968-1984), Mayor of Mumbai (1982-83), Chairman of BEST Committee Mumbai (1978), Chairman Medical Relief & Public Health Committee Mumbai (1968 -1970), Executive Vice President Life Insurance Federation Of India, General Secretary of Mayors Fund Committee, Trustee Zunkha Bhakar Trust Mumbai , Vice president of the Ramakrishna Mission, Khar (W) Mumbai. 

With humble beginnings, Dr. Pai went on to achieve great things in his lifetime. From a small village called Barkur, in Karnataka, Dr. Prabhakar S. Pai, grew up seeing a lot of hardships for his villagers, with poor medical aid. Dr. Pai would narrate how he along with other villagers, would have to carry patients across the paddy fields and get into a coracle or a small boat to cross a river to reach some form of medical aid, a full fledged hospital would be still miles away for them to reach. This would be the story of a pregnant lady delivering a baby, to a young man with Malaria, or senior citizens with ailments. Many lives were lost simply because there was no timely medical help. This inspired him greatly towards the need for set ups of Medical centers, and helping the underprivileged of society to build a stronger and promising future. Dr. Pai believed that educating the heart, without educating the mind, was no education at all. He strived to inspire families and towards building awareness in villages and in towns, towards the importance of education and how it could be the most important weapon to change the world.

Dr. Pai was a Medical Practitioner and a Social Worker of Bandra & Khar areas in particular and of Western suburbs in general. Since 1958, Dr.Pai, has fully dedicated himself to social work and to the cause of the nation. It required many efforts on his part to get the names of certain gardens/parks in Bandra renamed as a fitting memorial to the well-known people who devoted their lives to the service of suffering humanity.

Perhaps his sound record of Silent Social services ever since his early age came to limelight when he was elected as a Municipal Councilor from ward no. 100, T.P.S III, Pali Hill – Bandra Constituency, with a thumping Majority, in 1968. Immediately after his election to the Bombay Municipal Corporation, he was appointed as the Dy. Chairman of the Municipal Relief and Public Health Committee for the year 1968-69 and the Treasurer of the Bombay Municipal Congress Party. In the following year he was appointed as the Chairman of the Medical Relief and Public Health Committee.

• In the year 1971-72, he was appointed as the Whip of the Party and also a Member of the education Committee. 
• In 1972-73 he was elected as a General Secretary of the Bombay Municipal Congress Party. 
• Further he has been elected as President of the Bandra District Congress Committee. 
• He is also a member of the Civic Panel of the B.P.C.C. 
• He is the Convener of the Malad and Borivili Zopadpatti and Slum improvements Committee. 
• Further he is a Member of the Maharashtra State Vigilance Committee on Air pollution, Government of Maharashtra, as also a member of B.P.C.C Medical Panel. 

Apart from the above positions, he has been connected with many other Organizations.

MRS. JYOTHI PRABHAKAR PAI

TRUSTEE, EDUCATION ADVISOR, PHILANTHROPIST

Mrs. Jyothi P. Pai has been alongside Dr. Prabhakar Pai in this journey for health and education to all. 

Mrs. Pai completed her Bachelors in Science majoring in Zoology and Botany, and had been ardently involved in teaching students at Kirti College. Teaching always inspired her, and very early on, she realized how education transforms a young child’s mind and their future, and thus shapes the world. She followed the principle of "When you Learn, TEACH and when you get, GIVE"

Mrs. Pai has worked closely with the Sangh’s activities supporting the education arm. The Sangh has strived in providing primary education to underprivileged children, with particular attention to the Girl child.   

Mrs. Jyothi Pai, provides education, scholastic material, and support systems that provide assistance and encouragement to individuals with physical or emotional disabilities in order that they may better cope. This thus sanctions a child to access value education, attend school with self-worth and complete his/her training. Various Donors have helped in realizing the vision of Mrs. Pai with educational material and social support. 

 

DR. KAVITA PAI VAS 

MANAGING TRUSTEE & MEDICAL ADVISOR

Dr. Kavita Pai Vas, completed her medical studies and is a Master of Medicine, 

Specializing in Endocrinology. She was appointed Trustee and medical advisor since 29th Jan 2011. Dr. Kavita Pai Vas was appointed as the Managing Trustee since 18th Feb 2015. 

Since stepping into the Janata Seva Sangh, Dr. Kavita Pai Vas has been actively involved in its continued services. She has organized many Public Awareness Programs, an ongoing endeavor for promoting Wellness and Health. 

At the Sangh we keep ourselves updated with new developments in Medical science and novel treatments available to Diabetic patients and other Endocrine Illnesses. We hold various lectures for medical practitioners to build their knowledge on the newer modalities of treatment available. This helps in reaching out to various doctors and educating them on the use of these new modalities.  

Patients are seen on a regular basis at the Sangh premises. There are special clinics organized for the underprivileged, to meet their medical needs. Medical camps have been held successfully, with special reference to Diabetes, Osteoporosis, and Thyroid illnesses.  

Dr. Kavita Pai Vas aspires to extend the services of the Sangh to villages and rural areas, in and around Maharashtra, to provide medical aid and also help in bringing reform by building awareness of education for children.

 

MR. JASON KELLY VAS

TRUSTEE, LEGAL ADVISOR

Mr. Jason Vas is an Advocate and Solicitor practicing in the Bombay High Court. He is a partner in the renowned law firm, P.Vas & Co., Advocates and Solicitors and is well equipped with the legal knowledge and expertise necessary for the seamless functioning of the Trust and its various activities. Mr. Jason Vas in collaboration with the Trusts’ consultants, has been guiding the Trust on various legal matters and issues

 

MR. B.V. PAI

TRUSTEE

Mr. B. V. Pai is an advocate of the Bombay High Court. He has been rendering his services to the Sangh by overseeing its general administration and operation.

Mr. B. V. Pai has been instrumental in looking after the day-to-day affairs of the Trust and ensuring the smooth running of the trust. He has also offered his advice and assistance to the Trust on various issues involving matters requiring legal and practical awareness and as such has always been a reliable member of the Trust organization. 

 

MR. ERUCH K. IRANI

TRUSTEE

Mr. Eruch k. Irani, has been a Trustee for Janata Seva Sangh since the time of Inception. He has worked closely with the founder since. He has been part of the many civic activities carried out by the Trust. He has helped in organization, of the cultural activities and networking for the Trust needs.
